● Use The Right Type Of Oil
Using the right type of oil for your engine will not only make sure that it runs well but also helps you avoid leaks. Take the time to read your owner’s manual and check which type of oil is recommended.

Six Ways to Avoid Oil Leaks

I have a Honda car that recently started an oil leaking problem. I checked the filler cap and the oil pan gasket and also verified if I had put too much oil or not. All was Ok. So, I put two small buckets under it to check where the oil leakage was happening because whenever I get my car out of the garage, there is always an oil spill.

To my surprise, the problem was in the rear crankshaft seal. It is located in the back of the engine and keeps the oil sealed there. So, I took it to my Honda mechanic, and it took at least one to two hours to get it fixed.

So, [based on] my experience, here is a list of things you can do to avoid engine oil leaks.

1. First, check [to see] if the seals are corroded, damaged, or old enough to be replaced.
2. Check the oil pan gasket.
3. Check if you have overfilled the oil.
4. Use the right type of oil based on your car’s manual.
5. Regularly maintain or change the [oil] filter.
6. Lastly, check with your mechanic for scheduled maintenance.

Prevention is Key

Engine oil leaks are one of the most common problems that a car owner may face. To avoid them, it is important to know what causes engine oil leaks and how to prevent them. Here are some ways to avoid engine oil leaks:

    ● Make sure that your car is in good shape and has been properly maintained before heading out on the road for long drives.
    ● Use an engine oil that has a high-quality rating. The higher the quality rating, the less likely you will have any issues with your engine oil leaking.
    ● Change your car’s engine oil every 3,000 miles or three months if you frequently drive on hilly terrain or in stop-and-go traffic conditions.

Engine oil leaks can be a big problem for your car. They can cause major damage to your engine and are incredibly costly for companies and their customers. Engine oil leaks not only cause damage to your car but also increase fuel consumption and shorten the lifespan of your car’s engine.
